In loving memory of my beloved Neko
August 26th 1990 - October 22nd 2003
A little about myself and my dogs ... I have been in love with the Akita since 1978, when I saw my first Akita. His name was Ninja and he was a huge, black long coat. I was in awe of him. I loved his proud regal look. I had to know more about this breed and thus started my quest for my Akita.
I went searching for the right breeder. I wanted a good breeder and sound dog. That is when Susan Duncan of Tanoshii Akita's came into my life. In 1987, she had had a 5 week-old litter and of course I had to go take a LOOK. Well, a couple of week's later, I came home with the love of my life Nadjei. She was my protector and best friend for 12 years 4 months and 11 days. Nadjei went with the angels in 1999. She is missed every day.
You just can't have one Akita. So in 1990, I wanted a brindle male to be Nadjei's buddy and along came Neko. He was my first show dog. His title proudly reads AOM Ch. Tanoshii Kuro Neko Go ROM.
In 1993, Neko finished his Championship at the Akita National Specialty in Boston. Judge Jean Fournier presented him with Open Dog, Winners Dog, Best of Winners and the 2nd Place award in Stud Dog Class.
At the Colorado Akita National Specialty in 1999, six years after Neko won Best of Winners, under Judge Jean Fournier, she again rewarded him with the very prestigious Award of Merit. This was Neko's last show and I wanted him to show to Judge Fournier, as a respected "Thank You" for her recognition.
The next addition to our Akita family was Jett. She was the first Akita to carry my kennel name. She is Kumo-Ko's Kool Your Jetts. She is the daughter of Neko and Regalia's Black Eyed Susan. And, she is my foundation.
Jett was shown and her first points were awarded by Judge Jean Fournier. Sadly though, Jett broke off 3 canines. And I really didn't feel the need to show her again. I am very proud of the accomplishments she has made as a wonderful mother.
My next Akita to come along is Tuxedo. Tux is a wonderful grandson of Neko. His sire is Multi-BIS Am/Can. Ch. Kamikazi Isan Go TT owned by Ken Kollinger. His dam is Can. Ch. Shibusa Panda Mago. She is owned by Shirley Burley and Lyn Pearson. Tuxedo received his papers on August 9th 2001. Tuxedo is OFA Good... elbows clear... and eye's certified clear.
I am a proud member of...
